Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and EasySem, which runs Semester at easysem.ca. By creating an account or using Semester, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

1. The service

Semester helps you organize a school semester: courses, assignments, deadlines, grades, notes and a calendar. Some features use artificial intelligence to read syllabi and answer questions.

2. Your account

• You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms and be responsible for payment.
• Keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
• One person per account. Don't share accounts.

3. Subscription and free trial

• Semester requires a paid subscription, Semester Pro, which costs $10.99 USD/year, plus any applicable taxes.
• New accounts get a 14-day free trial. A payment card is required to start it. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your card is charged $10.99 USD and the subscription begins.
• Your subscription renews automatically every year and your card is charged on each renewal until you cancel.
• The AI Assistant is an optional add-on to Semester Pro. It costs $3.99 USD/month, plus any applicable taxes, and renews automatically every month until you cancel it. Cancelling it doesn't cancel Semester Pro.
• Prices are in US dollars. If your card uses another currency, your bank may convert the amount and charge a fee.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
• If we change the price, we'll tell you at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then.

4. Cancelling

You can cancel anytime in Settings → Manage billing. If you cancel during the free trial, you won't be charged. If you cancel after that, you keep access until the end of the billing period (the year for Semester Pro, the month for the AI Assistant) you've already paid for, and you won't be charged again.

5. Refunds

Payments are non-refundable, including for partially used years or months, except where the law requires a refund. If you believe you were charged in error, email mjacpbscfw@gmail.com and we'll look into it.

If a payment fails, we'll retry it for a short period. If it still can't be collected, your access will be paused until the subscription is paid.

6. Your content

Everything you put into Semester — courses, notes, grades, uploaded syllabi — stays yours. You give us permission to store and process it only to run the service for you, as described in our Privacy Policy. Only upload material you have the right to use.

7. AI features

Syllabus import and the assistant use AI, which can make mistakes. Always check important dates, weights and grades against your official course materials. EasySem isn't responsible for missed deadlines or grade decisions based on AI output.

8. Acceptable use

Don't use Semester to:

• break the law or your school's academic integrity rules;
• try to access other people's accounts or data, or disrupt the service;
• copy, resell, or automate access to the service without our permission.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules. If we close your account for reasons other than a breach of these terms, we'll refund the unused part of your current billing period.

9. Availability and changes

We work to keep Semester running smoothly, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. We may add, change or remove features. Keep your own copies of anything critical.

10. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

Semester is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, EasySem isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost data or academic outcomes, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be waived.

11. Changes to these terms

If we make important changes, we'll let you know in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Semester after that means you accept the new terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
